To be completely honest, before Kevin was diagnosed with Leukemia, blood and stem cell donation wasn’t something we ever gave a second thought about. You just don’t realize the importance of donating blood and/or stem cells until someone you love is affected by a disease that relies heavily on the generosity of others to keep them alive or someone is in your face begging you to pay attention. So now here we are, in partnership with Canadian Blood Services and One Match begging anyone who will listen (or read) to please consider donating blood and stem cells, providing you are an eligible candidate. We realize that not everyone can donate blood and/or stem cells, but if you can’t, you can encourage others.
I know the thought of donating blood or stem cells can be terrifying. However, there are A LOT of misconceptions and the procedures are actually not so bad. If you assume that you are not eligible to donate, don’t. I assumed that I couldn’t donate and I was wrong. If you have ANY questions at all, please ask. If you live in Canada, you can join our Canadian Blood Services Awesome and Beyond Partners for Life team! Our Partners ID # is AWES070342. We also hold regular group blood clinics in Kingston, Ontario on the 4th Wednesday of every month between 6pm and 7pm at the Gardiners Road clinic. Just contact us for more information.
ONE blood donation can help save up to THREE LIVES. Our Awesome and Beyond Partners for Life team has set an ambitious goal of encouraging 100 blood donations in 2015! You don’t have to wear a cape to be a real deal super hero. Thank you to our incredible and AWESOME Partners for Life team of donors!
